Solar Thermal Systems and Aplications Unit

- Objectives -

The Solar Thermal Systems and Aplications (STSA) Unit has as main objective the optimization and integration of Solar thermal systems and Thermal Energy Storage (TES) in various applications, with a primary focus on the use of line-focusing concentrating Thermal Collectors (e.g, QS-CPC, Parabolic Trough, Linear Fresnel), Thermal and Hybrid Storage Concepts (e.g, Sensible/Latent Storage, Carnot Batteries and Thermochemical Storage), and their applications in medium and high-temperature processes.

The STSA unit aims to advance the utilization of solar thermal systems in various sectors, including industrial process heat, electricity production, and thermochemical processes in order to make these systems more efficient, effective, and economically feasible by collaborating with partners from industry and academia to advance the use of solar thermal energy and integrate it with the electricity grid/Industrial processes.
